The cost of a lost oppurtunity

I too will write, the way it will be done, wont be such that each and everyone of you will relate. its more on the lines of a few who may say -that,that has happened to me. it wont make you weep, might make you cringe in shame of words that you thought were just a dream. because when you woke up, you sighed in relief, wiping the few drops of sweat,saying- its all right, am up again and its over.

you dont know me, may be you have seen me,in some places, faces. while crossing streets an accidental look and before you are thought to be a intruder caught staring, you look away prefering instead the indulgence of side way glances,a visitor on the periphery peering into the comfort a home, a fireplace and laughter even if sometimes forced.

you know you dont belong. you tell yourself thats allright. why this treatment?
because you tell yourself you are different. they dont understand you, because of the rebellious streak in you setting you apart. but there are moments when you worry its not so. you worry bout facades, about the commonness of it all. of being strangely familiar with the gulps in your throat.of the cold lake and its lying reflections.
hanging by the cliff, you have been there before too. jump.jump they tell you.
you can close your eyes, but for how long..you have to take the plunge.
you hope to land, because no one floats for ever.
