About a boy, isnt quite as funny but true to the bone. ( though i dont think that is even a saying)
so in this book there are these extremely natural lines which makes me sit up because i keep thinking i have thought that. I think like that. I did that!
Here is some. This is all testimony to how foolish. no not foolish. Naive i can be.
"Occasionally when the mood took him, he applied for jobs advertised in the media pages of the guardian. He liked the media pages, because he felt he was qualified to fill most of the vacancies on offer. How hard could it be to edit the building industry's in-house magazine or run a small arts workshop or write copy for holiday brochures. Now i am not technically guilty of any of this but i have thought how hard is it to write brochures and even considered applying to Hallmark to write sickeningly sweet cloying love poems.
The book has many moments which make you think. oddly enough. though the reviews for it says humorous fiction giving it an air of frivolity.which is only sad because its not frivolous at all. Anything but frivolous.
I hear there is a movie too, with Hugh Grant. Which i cant watch for the same reason.
Oh. Hugh Grant is the reason.

You don't like Hugh Grant?!! Please tell me you don't like Hugh Grant! I'm tired of all my friends being all fan-girly over Hugh Grant when all I can think is how he looks and acts like such a despo! Hmph.

lol... Bride is right. Hornby - and specially About a Boy - is definitive fluff factor for guys.
Watch the movie. Somehow Hugh Grant is just so totally RIGHT in that role. And the soundtrack rocks as well.
